Project 02: Experimental Pants

LECTURE [20/09]
In today's lecture, Mr Riza told us to thrift some slack pants so that we can deconstruct the pattern and draft it on the digital printer.

PROJECT 02
To produce an experimental pants garment based on an existing garment design. This task will help us to understand the construction of a garment and translate it using a combination of draping and pattern drafting techniques. And this is to also complete the look for the top.

PROCESS
I rip apart the pants, that I've thrifted.

After dismantling the pants, I have to transfer the pattern onto Modaris by scanning each panel. Front, back, waistband, fly front and back, pocket bag, and pocket lining. After importing the panel pieces to Modaris, I had to use the other software so that I can print my pattern pieces out onto paper.

I cut each piece out.

And lay them onto the actual fabric. After cutting them out, I had to overlook all the pieces as the pants has no lining inside.

Later on, I sew all the pieces together, especially the pocket bag. I sew a stay-stitch on the pocket bag so that the pocket bag will stay inside.

For the waistband and fly, Mr Riza said to add interfacing on them. Before adding the waistband. I have to sew the fly onto the pants. After sewing the fly onto the pants, we have to add the zipper onto the fly. After adding the fly, I added the waistband and sew the hemline of the pants. Lastly, for the finishing touches, I added the buckle on the waistband and sew the hemline of the pants.
