Project 02: Fashion 4 Change

LECTURE [28/09]
Ms Maria briefed us on the Panasonic Project. Basically, we have to create a corporate gift for Panasonic, the product must represent the company Panasonic. The fabric is utilizing the old uniform from the Panasonic company.

PROJECT 02:

PROCESS
Before starting the project, Ms Maria told us to sketch out the ideation for the product. I didn't know what to make, I thought of a small working bag for the employees at Panasonic, as they carry around tools with them.

FEEDBACK
By: Ms Maria
"This won't do, it has to relate to the company. When customers receive the gift, they must see and think that 'Oh this is Panasonic, this is what represents Panasonic."

Over the weekend, I thought of my initial idea for the Upcycle Project collaboration with LLCM, in which I made a bucket hat with mask chains.

I consulted with Ms Maria before proceeding with this idea.

FEEDBACK
By: Ms Maria
"I suggest adding a dual-function to the hat. Maybe when the hat turns over it turns into a small bag or pouch that has draw strings to fasten the bag."

I like the idea Ms Maria gave, so I decided to go forth with the idea. As in terms of the pattern for the hat, I consulted with Mr Riza. He suggested me to add a double function for the draw string by making it a set of mask chains.

After getting feedback from both lectures I started my making of the corporate gift.

I used the grey part of the uniform for the outer layer of the hat and the light bluish grey part for the lining of the hat.

I combine the two together to form the hat pattern. I added interfacing to the outer layer to thickened and structure the hat.

Next is to form the mask chains/drawstring for the pouch. Mr Riza told me to add an extra layer inside the hat to hide the drawstring from being shown. I bough the mask chains online and separated them.

I formed the band hiding the drawstrings inside and attached the mask chains. I also added two eyelets on each side for the string to escape through.

Before attaching both the outer and inner layer of the hat, I attached the Panasonic logo onto the outer layer of the hat and the drawstring band onto the inner layer of the hat.

Now it's time to attach the lining together with the outer.
