Task 01: Experimentation on Media - Etching Pen

LECTURE [29/03]
In today's lesson, Mr JR taught us how to do the hatching technique using a pencil first. To define our hatching skills, Mr JR gave us this exercise which was to draw a long box and place the words LIGHT and DARK at the top and bottom of the long box.

LECTURE [05/04]
Mr JR demonstrates the etching technique and how to utilize the technique in our drawing. He showed us videos and picture references of how to shade from dark to light tones.

ASSIGNMENT 01
The theme is Black & White. We are to choose any selection of fashion editorials on Pinterest and use the Artline pen to create the etching method in order to construct our chosen editorial.

PROCESS
I practiced using a pencil first then once Mr JR approves of it then I can move on to using the Artline pens.

Mr JR asked us to search for fashion editorials that are based on Avant-Garde in black and white. After finding the images, Mr JR examines each of our images and chooses the one that is suitable for us to print in A3 and A4 sizes. This is the image that Mr JR chose for me to do.

The A4 size is a trial before starting the actual illustration on A3.

For next week's class, Mr JR told us to trace the A3 image onto the A3 illustration board so that we can get a head start for the following class.

FEEDBACK
By: Mr JR
"The piece looks beautiful but some of your line directions are in the opposite direction. It has to follow a one-way system. The overlapping is quite a lot which makes the piece darker. Overall I think you are ready to start on the illustration board."

After getting feedback from Mr JR, I started plotting the borders 1 inch at the top and sides and 2 inches at the bottom. I traced the A3 image onto the illustration board. Here is video progress of my illustration board artwork.

DIGITAL SUBMISSION

Mr JR told us to frame our illustration artwork into a black A3 frame for a neater and presentable submission.
