Exercise 05: Sewing Facing
LECTURE [20/09]
The term facing in a garment means that it is facing you. You can find facing in various garments such as tops, sleeves, jackets, trousers, skirts and etc.
EXERCISE 05
To produce three facing collars with the bodice using calico fabric.
01 FACING COLLAR
The first facing collar I did was following from Mr Riza's tutorial. This facing collar is a simple round neck collar. I drafted the collar from my bodice block front and back. After that, I cut out the interfacing as well as the collar from calico fabric.

02 FACING COLLAR
The second facing collar I did was a wing collar. This collar is similar to a regular collar however the collar stand isn't included in the design. I drafted the wing collar on paper then transfer the pattern to the calico fabric as well as cut out the interface.
Collar Drafting #2 |
Here is the final result of the collar on the bodice. I did an opening in the front of the bodice.

03 FACING COLLAR
The third collar I did was a turtleneck. The neckline for the front of the bodice had to be similar to the back neckline. I drafted the turtleneck on paper then transfer the pattern onto calico fabric as well as cut out the interface.

Here is the final result of the collar on the bodice. I didn't do any opening on the bodice.
